I’ve been changing a few details here and there, but yes, this is based on something that really happened. I sung at my friend’s wedding, and his dear grandmother came over to us, complimented our talent, and then asked why we were ruining her grandson’s wedding by playing the Devil’s Music.

She felt our jazzy rendition of “Come Rain or Come Shine” was way too loud. Here’s an actual recording of us playing. It’s not a fantastic recording — basically just audio picked up by a video camera– but yes, that’s me singing, and Dumo [aka Honk] on saxophone! It is a little long, but see if you can catch the point where the groom’s father came over at grandma’s behest and signaled us to turn it down!
