Sorry no comic today, my wife and I have been busy…
Allow me to introduce Coltrane Parker Routly, born yesterday weighing 7lbs 7oz and 20.5″ long. He’s perfect.

…so here, have a photo of my son meeting Santa for the first time, this past December.
He really wasn’t scared, crying or upset about Santa. He actually kinda loves Santa even though he has no idea who he is. All he knows is that Mickey and the gang seem cool with Santa, as are Handy Manny and Barney. So Santa must be pretty awesome, right?
Yeah, so, no, he’s not upset about Santa. He’s upset because dada had the brilliant idea of taking his balloon away right before this.
Oops.
As I gear up for Ronnie’s big return on Monday, I just wanted to thank everyone for your patience over this past year’s “unofficial hiatus”. It’s been a crazy year, which included layoffs, moving across the country, and discovering that being a daddy is the best job I’ve ever had.
My apologies for just… leaving you all hanging. I toyed with the idea of just finishing off this storyline (it’s been basically fleshed out for a while) and then returning to it again when I could, but I knew if that happened I was unlikely to come back to it again at all. I really wanted to not come back unless I was ready to get back on a regular schedule.
Well, here we are. We’re back.
I won’t promise I’ll never be late getting a strip up, but I am working up a pretty decent buffer already, and really re-learning just how much I love doing this comic. I look forward to showing you all what I have in store for Ronnie and friends. A lot can happen in a year!
Sorry folks, trying to get new comic done while balancing a wiggly and hungry baby just isn’t working tonight. Now that he’s asleep for a bit I’m realizing my head’s about to crash into the desk and I need to get some sleep while I can.
So, new comic will be up tomorrow as soon as I can get it finished! Thanks for your patience!
I’d like you to meet my beautiful baby boy, Tucker Perrin Routly, born at right about noon today! 6lbs 13oz, 19 1/2″ long, for those of you who are interested in such things. He and mommy are doing just great.
Here he is, mere moments old.
My life will never be the same again, and I’m ecstatic.
With the impending arrival of my firstborn son looming somewhere over the nearby time horizon, I’ve been thinking that it would be prudent to put some plans in place so that Life of Ronnie can continue even if new fatherhood results in me getting behind. Working ahead isn’t really in the cards, so I call upon you creative types out there to do my work for me by making a fabulous Life of Ronnie Guest Comic!
The specs are simple: just create and send me a comic featuring any of the cast of Life of Ronnie. Make it an 850px wide (or larger, and I’ll resize) image; black and white, grayscale or color, that’s up to you. Whether you’re limited to stick figure drawings or you’re a professional, just have fun and be creative! Oh, and keep it clean, please. I’ll choose the ones I like best and run them while I’m occupied with poopie diapers.
Also, if you have your own comic, blog, deviantart page, or whatever, please let me know so I can send people to see more of your work.
Looking forward to seeing other renditions of Ronnie!
Well, okay, my wife is actually having the baby. Many of you already knew this, but I thought I should spread the good news on here too. We’re due at the end of September. Yay!
What a cutie, eh? Looks just like me. Roll over for more wombtastic fetus action!
I’m in the midst of attempting an upgrade to the blogging software I use for Life of Ronnie (WordPress, featuring a heavily modified version of the incredible Comicpress theme by Tyler Martin) so if you see anything go wonky, that’s why!
Me apologies, lads and lassies, but the new comic will come tomorrow! And a foin, foin comic it’ll be.
(I asked my wife to come up with a hilarious Irish cliché to use in this post, but all she could come up with was “I dunno. . . corned beef?” so that was the best you’ll get from me tonight)
So, Facebook is really popular with the kids these days, as a place for “social networking”, which really is just fancy internet-speak for “chillin’ with mah peeps, yo”, if I understand it correctly.
I recently stumbled upon this great little application made by Mike Phillips of Apathetic Rant, which, after some customization and tweaking, will allow people to get the most recent Life of Ronnie strip right in their Facebook profile. It’s a great way to share the comic with your friends. Keen!
Anyhow, you can get it here. Enjoy!
